I struggled with the topic of this first blog for days. What is the initial message that I want to share with readers, and what will serve them the most. Should I be upbeat and only speak of hope and change? Should I be introspective and reveal my past and how I overcame adversity?
What can I say to you that will enrich your life? Although I do plan to share information on my personal experiences, and I definitely will carry a message of hope, I decided that the first topic for all of us should be about self-care. If we can establish a habit of caring for ourselves, we can go about the business of our lives, grow, change, and be proud of who we are and who we are becoming.
As I’m sure you know, if you are reading this, self-care doesn’t happen on its own. It takes effort, time, and focus. The body and mind need to be maintained with the help of spirit. Each act of self-care leads to a renewed hope for additional change and faith in more self-care.
Self-care can be a simple as getting to bed on time, eating well, making sure our vehicles are tuned up and safe for motoring, and having clean laundry and organized clothing. It can also be much more involved, such as setting boundaries with others, reading and listening to uplifting material, and having an exercise routine.
Reading this blog and gathering other information that is useful to us is a step toward self-care. It says to the universe that this topic is important to us, that our issues are worth being addressed. It is a type of prayer for wisdom, peace, and assistance with focus on the self.
Self-care doesn’t have to be difficult or overwhelming. Sometimes just beginning with one small step such as a single healthy meal, cleaning the bathroom, or hanging up on an abusive relationship can give us the tiny boost we need to get started. Each time we exercise the self-care muscle, it gets stronger.
I hope that you will return here for more information, and in the meantime, you will practice a bit or a lot of self-care!
Here’s to hope,
Maryclara
